Kalpeni Island
Kalpeni island is 2800 m long and 1200 m wide, you can cover the entire island in a short walk. If you are a tuna lover, Kalpeni is the best place to visit in Lakshadweep for you. Much like most islands in the area, it is equipped with a lighthouse too, which has three white flashes that cover a stunning distance of 33.33 km with every flash in 20 seconds
Surrounding Kalpeni Island are several noteworthy islands that enhance its appeal. To the north, Cheriyam Island is an uninhabited islet offering tranquil landscapes perfect for exploration. Along with Tilakkam and Pitti Islands, these smaller islets form an atoll with Kalpeni, contributing to the region’s rich marine biodiversity. To the northwest, Andrott Island, the largest in Lakshadweep, is known for its dense coconut groves and historical significance. About 75 kilometers northwest, Kavaratti Island, the administrative capital of Lakshadweep, boasts pristine beaches and modern tourist facilities. Further south, Minicoy Island, the second-largest in the archipelago, is famous for its unique cultural influences and the historic Minicoy Lighthouse.
